UNCG Gardens
Building healthy, interactive urban communities through the collective production of locally grown, organic food.
Who
UNCG Student Community Gardens Club
The Garden Club meets on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 – 6 p.m. at the garden. We monitor the weather each week for garden activities.
What
On-campus urban gardens
The purpose of the UNCG Gardens is to build healthy, interactive urban communities through the collective production of locally grown, organic food. We recognize the need for education and sustainability and draw on the varied expertise at the University and within the local community.
Garden Activities
NOTES
- For garden activities, you must wear closed toed shoes – no flip-flops or sandals.
- You should bring a water bottle.
- Pants are better than shorts, given the work we are doing. Hats and sunscreen are good too.
- We have work gloves.
- It’s called a “community” garden for a reason. We ask that headphones, earbuds, cellphones or any electronic devices not be used during the work period, unless necessary.
- It could be hot, buggy, wet, muddy, dirty even smelly, but ultimately, the food we grow goes to the Spartan Open Pantry
